After installing and calibrating your FILTERSCAN WiFi Air Filter Monitor, it’s time to take advantage of its signature feature—the ability to forget about filter maintenance and let technology take over.
Just like your automobile’s gas gauge, the FILTERSCAN WiFi shows how much ‘cleaning power’ remains in your home’s air filter.
Using a scientific method to actively measure a filter’s capacity, the monitor sends email and/or text alerts to your smartphone, tablet or desktop computer when the home air filter becomes clogged so you can enjoy cleaner air, lower electric bills and an efficiently operating HVAC system.
Linking your filter monitor with your smartphone or tablet is simple and straightforward. Just follow these four easy steps:
1. Subscribe to AirFilterSentry
The AirFilterSentry Notification Service is the companion component to your FILTERSCAN WiFi monitor. Through AirFilterSentry, you can easily access online reports that detail the performance and efficiency of your home air filters. You can view reports that provide information such as the percentage of filter life used, the battery status of your monitor, and the elapsed time since your last filter replacement.
Moreover, your AirFilterSentry subscription enables your air filter monitor to send automatic text and or email service alerts to your smartphone or tablet.
There are two types of AirFilterSentry subscriptions available:
- The Home subscription allows you to sign up and receive alerts for one monitor.
- The Home+ subscription allows you to sign up and receive alerts for up to three separate monitors.
Once you determine which subscription is right for you, click on CleanAlertWiFi.com to begin the sign up and registration process. Simply follow the detailed steps.
Note that you will need to enter your air filter monitor's serial number and MAC address, both of which are located on the back of the monitor device, on the device packaging, and written in the manual during installation.
2. Connect your FILTERSCAN WiFi to your Wireless Router
(If your wireless router does not have a WPS button, skip to step 3 below.)
Press and hold your wireless router’s WPS button for two to three seconds until its wireless LED begins to blink.
Then, opening the monitor’s cover, use a non-metallic device (toothpick or pencil) to press the WPS button on the circuit board for a few seconds (See photo on right). A series of red and green flashes will occur, and finally go out. When the monitor’s WiFi Status Indicator stops blinking, it is officially connected to your router. The WiFi Status Indicator is located above the WPS button.
Now your FILTERSCAN WiFi is “online.” At this point, the monitor will start sending status messages to the AirFilterSentry Notification System server on a periodic basis. Please skip to Step 4.
Errors in connecting will be displayed on the WiFi Status Indicator LED. Please consult the FILTERSCAN WiFi Reference Guide Troubleshooting section.
(If your wireless router does not have a WPS button, follow the instructions below. If you’ve completed step 2, please skip to step 4)
Opening the monitor’s cover, use a non-metallic device (toothpick or pencil) to press the WPS button on the circuit board until the monitor’s WiFi Status Indicator blinks yellow (See photo).
Next, using a WiFi-enabled Smartphone, tablet or computer, connect to the “FILTERSCAN” network. Once connected to the FILTERSCAN Network, open a web browser and enter the IP address 192.168.1.1. Then, enter your router’s SSID (name) and password and select the “Join Network” button.
Now your air filter monitor is connected to your wireless router. At this point, the monitor will start sending status messages to the AirFilterSentry Notification System server on a periodic basis.
5. (OPTIONAL) Connect your Contractor to your FILTERSCAN WiFi Device
You also have the option of having your monitor issue alerts to your contractor.
During the AirFilterSentry subscription process, you can look up your HVAC contractor’s contact information in the AirFilterSentry Pro Network listing and indicate if they should receive any service alerts. If your contractor is not listed in the AirFilterSentry database, please contact them and request that they join the Pro Network, it’s free.
After completing these steps, you can forget about filter maintenance and let technology automatically alert you when your filter needs servicing. At the same time, you’ll enjoy cleaner air, lower electric bills and an efficiently operating HVAC system.
