FILTERSCAN®
Currently under development and expected to ship in early 2012, the FILTERSCAN® Air Filter Clog Detector is an innovative application of our air flow sensing technology. The FILTERSCAN® tracks the increase in differential pressure across an air filter to monitor filter clogging.
The FILTERSCAN® provides visual and audible alerts indicating that a filter needs to be serviced when the increase in differential pressure reaches a specified level. When connected to a remote device, the FILTERSCAN® also provides a 5 VDC output indicating when a filter needs to be serviced. An optional wireless model of the FILTERSCAN® with a wall-mounted receiver is also available.
Installation of the FILTERSCAN® is straightforward, and the unit is easily recalibrated each time a clogged air filter is serviced. Because the FILTERSCAN® calibrates itself every time a filter is serviced, it can be used with a wide variety of filters. Users therefore can change filter models as desired.
The question of when to service an air filter has vexed contractors, home owners, and building managers for years. Much guesswork has been required, and many users have resorted to servicing their filters according to a schedule. Servicing filters too often results in unnecessary expense from the costs of the filters themselves and the time required to service them. Waiting too long to service a filter allows pressure to build up in an HVAC system, thereby increasing costs by lengthening the time fans must operate to move hot or cold air throughout the system. Installing the FILTERSCAN® to monitor your filters will eliminate this guesswork and ensure that your systems are operating effectively, efficiently, and safely.
